The Innovation Centre for International Technology Transfer in Biomedicine to Be Established

The cooperation agreement, which envisages the joint construction of the Innovation Center for International Technology Transfer in Biomedicine, was signed on 11 January 2024 by the Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, and President of Shanghai University of Medicine and Health Sciences Prof. Wu Tao, PhD.

In addition to the construction of the Centre, this agreement, signed in online format in the Zoom meeting, envisages the exchange of researchers, teaching and administrative staff, as well as students of all study cycles. The agreement also envisages joint work on the development and improvement of the teaching process, with a special focus on new study programmes and curricula. Furthermore, the two universities will be working on joint projects, dedicated courses, and special academic programmes. Naturally, it is important to emphasize that the plan is to also organize joint conferences,
meetings, and lifelong and professional training programmes.

The signing of the agreement was also attended by Vice Rector for Material and Human Resources of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Ranko Škrbić, PhD, Head of the Sinology Study Programme at the Faculty of Philology Asst. Prof. Ljiljana Stević, PhD, and Teaching Assistant Anja Mudrenović, MA.

Partners from China were also present, as follows: Vice President of Shanghai University of Medicine and Health Sciences Tang Lei, Deputy Director of the International Exchange Division Wan Guangsheng, Deputy Director of Science and
Technology Chen Jianyu, Deputy Director of Collaborative Research Centre Chen Bing, and Deputy Director of Shanghai Intelligent Medical Devices and Active Health Collaborative Innovation Centre Zhou Liang.

The establishment of the Innovation Centre for International Technology Transfer in Biomedicine was initiated in November last year when a delegation from the Shanghai University of Medicine and Health Sciences paid a working visit to our university. The details of the wording of this agreement signed for a five-year period and the establishment of the Centre
itself were agreed upon when the delegation of the University of Banja Luka, led by the rector, Prof. Gajanin, returned the visit to China in December 2023.
