Construction of a Summer Stage and a Memorial: Competition Open until 16 March

On the occasion of the competition announcement for the construction of a summer stage and a memorial to the fallen students and employees of the University of Banja Luka, who lost their lives in the Defensive and Patriotic War, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research and Development Prof. Miroslav Malinović, PhD, met on 2 February 2023 with the advisors of the Mayor of Banja Luka, Milada Šukalo and Mirna Savić Banjac, and the authorized signatory of the Department for Spatial Planning, Vuk Višekruna.

Vice-Rector for Scientific Research and Development Prof. Miroslav Malinović, PhD, says that this international competition will be open until 16 March this year, with a prize fund of BAM 15,000.

As he explained, the memorial to the fallen students and employees of the University of Banja Luka, who lost their lives in the Defensive and Patriotic War and the accompanying landscaping will be located at the site between the Faculty of Law and the University Clinical Centre facilities.

In a statement to the media after the meeting in the premises of the City of Banja Luka, the vice-rector emphasized that the planned capacity is between 280 and 330 seats in the auditorium, about 250 square meters of the stage itself and a total area of between 1,000 and 1,200 square meters of the open stage and memorial complex.

Vuk Višekruna, the authorized signatory in the Department of Spatial Planning of the City of Banja Luka, said that as part of the cooperation with the University, the City launched an initiative to have a summer stage constructed on the site near the Faculty of Law.

,,The University came up with the idea to, through this concept design, in some way, honour the students and employees who lost their lives in the Defensive and Patriotic War. An agreement was reached to consolidate that concept design/solution, to prepare an international competition where the theme will primarily be the amphitheatre, but which will also include a memorialˮ, he explained and added that the City had initially budgeted BAM 800,000 for this project for this year, and that the exact amount will be known after the project documentation is prepared. According to him, the holder of the competition is the University of Banja Luka.

This meeting was attended by Dario Stanković, Senior Public Relations Associate at the University of Banja Luka.
