Learning objectives
Introducing students to the application of geometry in architecture, and mastering the elements of linear algebra and analytical geometry for their application in professional subjects. Connecting knowledge from the curriculum with descriptive geometry.
Learning outcomes
Introduction and understanding of basic geometric concepts and their mutual relations; Acquisition of basic mathematical knowledge of linear algebra necessary for mastering some professional subjects; Emphasis is placed on plane and space geometry, and the application of geometry in architecture.
Content
Mathematics in architecture, significance and application; Euclidean geometry in plane and space: point, line, plane, geometric bodies, regular polyhedra; Second order curves: circle, ellipse, parabola, hyperbola; Fundamentals of linear algebra: systems of linear equations, matrices, determinants; Vector spaces; Free vector in space; Scalar, vector and mixed vector product; Analytic geometry of space; Surfaces of the second order with application in architecture.
Teaching Methods
Lectures, exercises, consultations, independent work
