On 6 March 2020, the Faculty of Security Sciences at the University of Banja Luka organized a solemn academy and promotion ceremony for 20 graduates to mark three years of successful work.
Addressing the guests, Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, pointed out that the Faculty of Security Sciences educates future law and criminal justice graduates who are ready to meet current and future challenges.
,,This faculty is the shield of security of our Republic of Srpska, a place where students will become future academic citizens, as well as those who are going to run security agencies in the Republic of Srpska and BiH one day. Among them are many excellent athletes who, in addition to successful results during their studies, also achieve enviable results in sports disciplines’’, Rector Gajanin said, adding that this faculty is successful in all fields.
,,In the forthcoming months, a new generation of students will be enrolled, and I am sure that many graduated secondary school students will fight for the index of this faculty this year, too. I cannot but say that in everything we do at this faculty, we owe special thanks to the Republic of Srpska authorities and the relevant ministry, without whose help we would not have achieved such good results’’, he said.
The rector also congratulated the graduates of this higher education institution.
,,Dear colleagues, this is the crown of your work and dedication, but I do not want it to be the end of your education. It is at the Faculty of Security Sciences of the University of Banja Luka that you should continue your further education, and we will be happy to have the information on additional education at this faculty in your CVs’’, Rector said.
President of the Republic of Srpska Zeljka Cvijanovic says that numerous challenges show the importance of educational institutions, such as the Faculty of Security Sciences, and how important their role is in building and strengthening the outlook for a stable future of the Republic of Srpska.
She expressed satisfaction with the fact that she was in charge of the Government which supported the transformation of the Higher School of Internal Affairs into the Faculty of Security Sciences at the University of Banja Luka and that the Republic of Srpska has people that will be able to meet future challenges.
,,I support the mission of this faculty, because I know a lot will depend on the people who will be educated here. It is important to introduce new curricula, some new practice into the teaching process, especially in higher education, as we know how important it is to keep pace with the future“, Cvijanovic said.
Dean of the Faculty of Security Sciences Assistant Professor Predrag Ceranic, PhD, said that many young people are interested in studying at this faculty, which so far had about 300 students.
He pointed to the fact that this higher education institution has good cooperation with related faculties from Russia, Serbia and Northern Macedonia.
,,We agreed with the Moscow Regional State University to have a joint master study program, so that our students can get two degrees – from the Moscow University and Banja Luka University, alike", Dean Ceranic pointed out, emphasizing that the students of this faculty are patriots, as every year an echelon of students participate in the ceremonial parade on the occasion of celebrating the Day of the Republic of Srpska, as well as in voluntary blood donation actions.
During this ceremony, individuals who contributed to the development of the Faculty, as well as the best students, were rewarded for their selfless efforts. Hence, the faculty leadership gave recognition to Serbian Presidency Member Milorad Dodik, Vice Rector for Teaching and Student Affairs Prof. Strain Posavljak, PhD, Head of the University of Banja Luka Computer Center Aleksandar Gacina and others.
