Why study at the University of Banja Luka?
The University of Banja is the leading higher education institution in the Republic of Srpska, with by far the longest tradition in the education of academic staff, and the second largest university in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It was established on 7 November 1975, as the second largest university in Bosnia and Herzegovina at that time, and today it comprises 16 faculties and the Academy of Arts, including 66 first-cycle study programmes, 67 second-cycle study programmes, and 14 third-cycle study programmes.
The University of Banja Luka upholds the highest standards in terms of staff and spatial capacity. We have all the necessary classroom facilities, reading rooms, libraries, computer rooms and laboratories, and the top teaching staff guarantee the quality of teaching.
Our university is recognized as being a leader in the promotion of scientific thought and positive processes, the quality of higher education, a generator of knowledge and progress in society. We have been a member of the European University Association for a long time now, we are a member of the European Research Area and the first research institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina to be awarded the HR Excellence in Research Logo by the European Commission.
We take active part in numerous national and international projects, as well as educational exchange programmes for students and staff. We have so far concluded over 200 cooperation agreements with universities, institutions and other partners around the world, which opens up numerous opportunities for our students - to spend part of their education at other prestigious universities across Europe and worldwide.
Since the University of Banja Luka is located in the largest city of the Republic of Srpska, which is also the cultural, educational and sports centre, it enables our students to take part in all these social activities. It is certainly an advantage that most of our faculties are grouped in two campuses, placed in the immediate vicinity of the city centre, where student dormitories are located with a capacity of 1,300 places, cafeterias, the Medical Specialist Centre, the Student Multimedia Centre, as well as numerous sports courts and student clubs.
