Professors at the PMF of the UNIBL participated in creating the Global Environment Outlook
University of Banja LukaGeneralProfessors at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of the University of Banja Luka (PMF UNIBL) participated in creating the 7th edition of the UNEP Global Environment Outlook (GEO 7), which was officially published on 9 December 2025.
Professor Dušica Pešević, PhD, participated in the capacity of a member of the Inter-Governmental Counselling Committee with several interested parties (IMAG) in the creation of this significant report by the UNEP program, while Professor Goran Trbić, PhD, participated in the capacity of Reviews Editor, and Associate Prof. (docent) Slobodan Gnjato, PhD, participated as a researcher.
This was the first time that the representatives of the University of Banja Luka took part in creating the Global Report on Environment, organized by UNEP, which is a significant international recognition for the UNIBL and the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
The Global Environment Outlook reports are a leading series of environmental assessments made by the UN, which analyzes the current state and directions of development of the global living environment, as well as political responses and possible future steps. The Report deals with the influence of connected crises, including climate change, loss of biodiversity, degradation of soil, pollution and waste, and considers the scenario of systemic transformations that can contribute to their solution.
The Authors of the Report invited all relevant actors to recognize the emergency nature of these global challenges and to jointly work towards the development of their integrated policies, strategies, and measures oriented towards a sustainable and better future.
