Visit of the Russian Ambassador to the University of Banja Luka

His Excellence Petr Ivantsov, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, paid his first official visit to the University of Banja Luka on Feb 11 2015, and used the opportunity to talk with Prof. Stanko Stanic, the Rector of the University, about the existing level of cooperation between the University and the academic community in Russia, as well as about the expansion of this cooperation.

The Rector and Ms Jelena Rozic, an associate with the Office of the International Cooperation of the University, informed the ambassador of the fact that the University had signed several agreements on cooperation with scholarly institutions in Russia so far, with some more waiting to be realized, that our students benefited from the scholarships offered by Russian institutions, emphasizing the ‘Encountering Russia’ project, through which many of the students took an opportunity to learn of cultural heritage of Russia.

In addition, there are numerous academic and public figures from Russia giving addresses on topical issues to students of the University of Banja Luka.

The Rector reminded the ambassador of the excellent cooperation with the Embassy in the past, expressing the hopes for furthering it in the future, and asked him to deliver a lecture on a topic of his choice, which he wholeheartedly accepted.

At the same time, Mr Ivantsov, taking into consideration a very significant jubilee – the 70th anniversary of the victory over fascism in the WW II - proposed organizing a symposium, provisionally scheduled for mid-May, with distinguished scholars from Russia and the Republic of Srpska taking part in it, which was welcomed by the Rector.
