The course aims to provide students with fundamental knowledge of hazardous waste management and recycling technologies designed to minimize adverse environmental impacts. Students will become familiar with the specific requirements of hazardous waste management arising from the properties of hazardous substances, as well as with treatment and recycling technologies that can reduce or eliminate their harmful effects on human health and the environment.
Students acquire the knowledge required to understand the nature and characteristics of hazardous waste, the specific requirements for its safe handling, and contemporary approaches to hazardous waste management. Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to handle hazardous waste safely and understand the design criteria applicable to temporary and permanent hazardous waste storage facilities.
