Basic Principles of Water Management

Introduction to the basic elements of the natural and social environment and the ways in which they influence water systems. The course also familiarizes students with the water management system and the principles of its functioning.
Upon successful completion of the course, the student should be able to:
-Understand the water management system and identify the role and significance of their professional work within that system;
-Recognize possible water management frameworks, mechanisms, and governance instruments, and be prepared to participate in their development, implementation, or monitoring.

Teaching is delivered through lectures and classroom exercises. During lectures, the theoretical part of the course material is presented, while practical exercises involve solving problems and working through practical examples from specific subject areas that complement the lectures. In addition to lectures and exercises, regular consultation sessions are also held.
Seminar papers are prepared in groups designated by the course instructor, while the presentation and defense of seminar papers take place during scheduled exercise sessions. Midterm examinations consist of both theoretical and computational components and may be taken in written form during the semester in which the course is offered.
Students are required to attend classes, complete practical exercises, and pass the midterm examinations as well as the final examination.
