Cooperation with Scientists from the USA: Prof. Korać Published His Paper in an Exceptional Journal

University of Banja LukaGeneral-

The scientific research collaboration of Professor at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of the University of Banja Luka Dragan Korać, PhD, with professors from the prestigious University of Texas at San Antonio and Oklahoma State University was crowned by the publication of a scientific paper in a journal of exceptional value.

Namely, Prof. Korać, PhD, and Prof. Kim-Kwang Raymond Choo, PhD, from the University of Texas, and prof. Cong Pu, PhD, and Prof. Image Bhattarai, PhD, from Oklahoma State University published the scientific paper ,,Lightweight and Anonymous Application-Aware Authentication and Key Agreement Protocol for the Internet of Drones“ in the exceptional international journal ,,Internet of Things Journal’ with the two-year impact factor 10.6 and the five-year imapct factor 11.1, respectively.

According to Prof. Korać, the new era of drones as a transformative period in technologies and society is currently attracting enormous attention of the scientific community around the world.

Drones have a wide range of applications and are used for various purposes and as such are seen as smart aerial vehicles equipped with sensors and capable of processing and storing data.

It is these specifics that intrigue the cyber community on how to make these smart devices safer and more secure to use.

"The essential problem of the community that deals with internet drones is focused on the challenges of protection and privacy because the existing solutions do not distinguish between types of data during the authentication process and the establishment of the session key, which leads to the leakage of information that can be accessed by unauthorized entities," Korać emphasized.

A lightweight and anonymous application-aware authentication and key agreement protocol for the Internet of Drone called liteA4 is proposed to solve the problem of data protection and leakage.

,,The basic idea of liteA4 is designed so that the ground station and the drone perform mutual authentication and establish separate session keys for different types of data before the drone even delivers the collected data to the ground station. The commitment of this solution is that if the drone falls into the wrong hands, the other party cannot use the data contained in it,'' Korać explained.

It should be emphasized that Professor Korać worked with a distinguished team of experts on this project. Thus, Professor Choo is one of the world's most respected scientists in his field, and he has been awarded several times  for his work by prestigious universities and journals around the world. What is important to point out is that Prof. Choo is also a great friend of the University of Banja Luka, he stayed at our university and in Banja Luka last year, where he participated in the work of the International Symposium "Challenges and Threats in Cyber Protection".

As to professors from the Oklahoma State University, it should be emphasized that Prof. Pu, although a young scientist, has already attracted the attention of the scientific community around the world.
