Learning objectives
The basic focus of the course is the study of the history of the development of journalism and the media, the development of the journalistic profession and journalistic genres, and the history of the development of media formats. Within the scope of the course, the characteristics of world eras of journalism and media will be studied and compared with the national history of journalism and media.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to connect the importance of the appearance of the letter to the development of means of communication, as well as the appearance of cities, markets, social division of labor to the appearance and development of mass means of communication. Students will be able to recognize the most important characteristics from the basic typology of the development of world and national journalism. They will be trained to independently create a presentation of the most important events in the history of journalism and the media, and to analyze them purposefully according to the appropriate factors established in the subject.
Content
Defining journalism and the journalistic profession; The social role of journalism and journalists; Early history of journalism (writing tools, writing materials, forms of communication, early chroniclers, menants, conceptions); The emergence and development of manuscript news in journalism (newspapers, gazettes, sonrads and korantos); The emergence and spread of the press; Gutenberg and artificial writing; Spread of printing in the 17th century (Europe, America); The appearance of early newspaper publications in the 18th and 19th centuries; Overview of the history of national journalism; The first Serbian newspaper and its characteristics; Printing in Vojvodina and Bosnian Krajina; Scientific and technological discoveries in the history of media.
Teaching Methods
Considering the nature of the subject, the teaching is conducted as a combination of theoretical teaching according to the principle of ex cathedra and direct involvement of students, encouraging interactivity in the form of independent presentations, group analysis of topics, panel discussions and independent development of topics - seminars.
