University of Banja LukaGeneral

On 16 November 2018, an international scientific conference entitled ‘Banjalucki novembarski susreti’ (November Encounters in Banja Luka), gathering numerous participants from five countries of the region of former Yugoslavia and Russia, was held at the Faculty of Philosophy, within the course of activities marking the 24th anniversary of the Faculty.

Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, Rector of the University of Banja Luka, said that the Faculty of Philosophy was one of the most recognisable faculties of the University, not only because of the teaching staff and students, but also for the management of the Faculty of Philosophy that had achieved very good results in the previous three years.

The Rector also pointed out the significance of organising events such as this scientific Conference.

‘The academic community in the Republic of Srpska has a huge potential, and most of the scientists are employed at universities. We are able to respond to all challenges, not only in the field of science, but also in solving entrepreneurs’ issues’, added Prof. Gajanin

‘I would like to see the book of proceedings from the conference advancing from the second to the first category of scientific publications of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of Science and Technology’, concluded Prof. Gajanin.

Prof. Brane Mikanović, PhD, Dean of the Faculty, said that the total number of 57 papers presented confirmed the seriousness of this scientific Conference, held for the 19th time.

He explained that the topics from all departments of the Faculty had been presented: Philosophy, Pedagogy, Psychology, Preschool Education and Teachers’ College.

‘This is the best opportunity for exchanging opinions and experiences. It is especially significant for our younger colleagues who have just entered the world of science, so they can observe the opinions and activities of those who have been dealing with certain topics for 20 years or more’, Prof.  Mikanović pointed out.

Prof. Drago Branković, PhD, an academician, addressed the participants and wished the best of success to the Faculty, expressing his full support to this Conference on behalf of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Republic of Srpska

The event was also attended by Prof. Luka Kecman, PhD Vice-Rector for Human and Material Resources of the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Goran Latinović, PhD, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research and Development; and Prof. Strain Posavljak, PhD, Vice-Rector for Education and Students’ Affairs.
