A 500-hundred-place push forward at the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities

University of Banja LukaGeneral

The University of Banja Luka has made a 486-place progress at the latest Webometrics list (Webometrics Ranking of World Universities), which is an indicator of Internet visibility, presence, openness and excellence/citation index of universities worldwide.
At the aforementioned list of the Spanish National Research Council, featuring 24,000 higher education institutions and updated twice a year, the University of Banja Luka currently holds position number 4,803.
In his comment on this information, Prof. Milan Mataruga, Rector of the University, pointed out that this progress was to be attributed to implementation of certain activities from the Action Plan, which defines the system of measures to be taken in the following four or five years in order to position the University as high as possible on the said list.
This applies, in the first place, to the uniform representation of all the organizational units and staff under the scope of ‘unibl.org’ domain, as well as to publishing of scholarly and expert papers and results of research and innovative activities on the official website of the University.
In addition, Prof. Mataruga expressed his wishes regarding the next list, to be released in January 2018, when the University of Banja Luka should make a breakthrough similar to this one. In the Development Strategy, adopted in July this year, one of the goals of the University is the progress of 3,000 places on this list by the year of 2025.
